How to give a great speech:
- start with something familiar! (start where people are)
- give people a gift with your speech (to four specific people in the audience and look at them)
- don't just tell them stuff
- use humor for connection
- remind them of their own life and values
- then bring it into the present (make them rethink something)
- present one main idea only
- make people enjoy learning something new, so that they want to do something about it
- gift them a surprising thought
- speak to the objection
- tell your story
- call to action (explain exactly what they have to do)
- make clear what's in it for them
